Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan Met With Monique Barbut, Minister for Ecological Transition, Biodiversity, and International Negotiations on Climate and Nature of France

Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, met with Monique Barbut, Minister for Ecological Transition, Biodiversity, and International Negotiations on Climate and Nature of France.
The parties discussed priorities in environmental protection, water resources management, climate policy, and the deepening of bilateral cooperation.
The meeting highlighted the effective Armenia–France partnership in the field of nature protection, which began in 2016 and has been implemented mainly through a number of EU-funded programmes.
The Minister highly appreciated the joint efforts toward developing water resources management plans, the activities carried out within the digitalization of water data, and the development of the “Ecoportal.”
Hambardzum Matevosyan also presented the innovative financial instrument “Debt for Climate,” which enables channeling additional funds toward climate programmes while helping reduce the financial burden.
The parties also discussed cooperation between the two countries on international platforms, including commitments under the Paris Agreement, as well as the expert support provided by France in the organizational process of #COP17.
The meeting concluded with a shared willingness to continue close cooperation aimed at environmental protection and jointly addressing climate challenges.
